Bhubaneswar, Oct. 20: Xavier Institute of Management, Bhubaneswar (XIMB) has joined hands with city-based Nettech to market its Academic Information System (AIS) to educational institutions in the country.

The software, developed jointly by Dr. G. K. Nayak, professor of Information Systems and former dean of XIMB and Dr. Marcel Weverbergh, professor of marketing, University of Antwerp, Belgium has been in operation at the institute for four years now and has also been installed at XLRI Jamshedpur and GIFT Vishakhapatnam.

AIS has two components – AIS Client Server for use by the academic and administrative offices and AIS On-Line for use by the faculty, students, staff and alumni – and its system requirements include Oracle database server, Microsoft IIS as Web server and Oracle developer 2000 runtime components.

“AIS is ideal for autonomous institutes and helps in smoother academic administration, courseware and knowledge management, online evaluation and learning. It provides a virtual campus, thereby making distance learning programme very effective. Being web enabled, it provides relevant information to the students both on and off the campus all the time.” Said Nayak.
